Welcome to the 2018 Call for Conference Interest Sessions and Performing Ensembles! Dates for the 2018 Conference are November 14-16 (Wednesday through Friday noon) in Lincoln, Nebraska.

In order to submit for either application, in-state clinicians and directors must be current NMEA members.  You must enter your membership ID number and expiration date. You should also have photo(s) and bio(s) on hand to upload. To apply for BOTH conference sessions and performing ensembles, you must submit for EACH type. There are two different forms. Out-of-state clinicians and directors may apply as well.

NMEA records video and takes photographs during the Conference to use in our publications and broadcasts, such as the Nebraska Music Educator magazine, the NMEA website, etc.  Submitting an application requires consent to allow any images taken during the conference to be used by NMEA.

Video or audio recording of any session or performance is strictly prohibited unless it is NMEA authorized personnel.

Session Proposals:
We invite you to submit session proposals that cover the breadth of current thought and research in music education. We have over 800 active members in our organization that have a wealth of information to share, and we hope you will consider sharing it with us in November. Deadline for conference session submissions is March 1, 2018.  Complete the application process for EACH session you wish to present. NMEA will provide complimentary conference registration for one session clinician per session and one director of a demonstration ensemble per session. If a co-clinician is involved with this session, then only the clinician who submits the application will receive the complimentary conference registration. All communication from NMEA will be directed to the person who submits this application and it is the applicant's duty to inform others involved with the session of financial, equipment, logistical, etc. details for the session. The Selection Committee will make all final determinations.

Performing Ensembles:
Those who wish to submit applications for a performing ensemble for the 2018 Conference may do so by adhering to the guidelines and completing the online application. The Selection Committee will make all final determinations. You will be required to upload recordings (avi, m4v, mov, mp4, wmv) of the ensemble: three selections with variety, recorded during the 2016-2017 year. Deadline for applying is May 1, 2018.

In-State Directors must be current NMEA members at the time of application and during the Conference. Out-of-state Directors may also apply. The person completing this application must be the person actually conducting the ensemble. By completing this application, you agree that, if selected, you will follow the allotted set-up/prep time and rehearsal time-frame set by NMEA policy. No additional time will be permitted in the performance venue. Please consider this carefully when determining the type of ensemble for audition.

The Director of the selected performing ensemble will receive a complimentary registration to the Conference.

All expenses, travel risks, and chaperonage of ensembles are to be covered entirely through local efforts. Only the ensemble that auditions (other than soloists or accompaniment chamber ensemble) may perform at the conference, if selected. Ensembles that performed at the 2016 or 2017 Conference will not be eligible to perform in 2018.
